Free Native Trees

Merikay is leading another native tree give-away this Thursday from her garden at 14909 Spring Meadows Drive, Darnestown, MD. 4:30 pm to dark. Bonnie Bell will head up the distribution at Seneca State Park (near the park office) from 5:30 pm until trees are gone.

If you'd like to volunteer to help at either distribution site, contact merikays@verizon.net.

Any household can take up to 10 trees. They need to be planted ASAP (but are very easy to plant being small but will need deer protection).

We will have 450-500 bare-root native tree saplings (obtained from Maryland DNR). Trees we expect to have:
pawpaw, serviceberry, spicebush, southern arrowwood, beautyberry, buttonbush, hazelnut, witchhazel, Southern red oak, white oak, willow oak, pin oak, Virginia pine.
